Stuart Hill’s indefatigable campaign to prove the sovereignty of Forvik and the Shetlands has had its first small victory. Appearing in the Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he refused to acknowledge its jurisdiction, his case was adjourned to August 16 when there will be a hearing specifically to discuss whether Scotland and the UK have jurisdiction over Forvik and the Shetlands. Admitting he was somewhat “shell-shocked”, Stuart explained how momentous the August 16 hearing could be:
If the court cannot prove its jurisdiction, it strikes at the heart of the UK and Scotland’s authority here and questions Shetland’s position as part of Scotland, the UK and the EU.
